The Saurians are an ancient race considered primitive by most of galactic society. They live in family based tribal units and dwell on planets that, up until fairly recently, the empire had ignored as backwater worlds. Their origins have been extensively studied and debated by archaeologists, since nobody understands how they became so widespread. While suarians exist on many planets spread out across the galaxy, they did not possess the magical expertise needed to make spelljammer vessels until very recently. So scholars ask themselves: how did they get to so many planets? For their part, saurians have little to offer inquisitive academics except for the legends that have been preserved by oral histories, and these stories vary greatly from region to region.
Standard Racial Traits
-Ability Score Racial Traits: Saurians are strong and tough, but are considered primitive by most of the galaxy. They gain +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence.
-Type: Saurians are Humanoid with the reptilian subtype
-Size: Saurians are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
-Base Speed: Saurians have a base speed of 30 feet.
-Languages: Saurians begin play speaking Common and Saurian. Saurians with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following languages: Elven, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Halfling, Orc, and Sylvan.
Defensive Racial Traits
-Natural Armor: Saurians have tough scaly skin, granting them a +2 natural armor bonus.
Movement Racial Traits
-Swim: Saurians have a swim speed of 30 feet and gain a +8 racial bonus on Swim checks
Offense Racial Traits
-Natural Attacks: Bite (d4)
-Natural Attacks: Claws (d4)
Other Racial Traits
-Hold Breath: A Saurian can hold its breath for a number of rounds equal to 4 times its Constitution score before it risks drowning.
Alternative Racial Traits
-Adaptive Camouflage: Some saurians can adjust the color of their scale to blend with their surroundings. Suarians with adaptive camouflage gain a +4 racial bonus to stealth checks. This ability replaces their swim, hold breath, and claw attack abilities.
-Climber: Some tribes of saurians who live in mountainous jungles have developed gecko-like hands to assist in climbing. Climber suarians gain a climb speed of 20 feet and a +8 racial bonus to climb checks. This ability replaces Suarians usual swim speed and their racial bonus to swim checks.
-Tail Slapper: Many saurians do not have well developed teeth or claws. Instead they rely on their tails as their primary means of defense. They gain a Tail attack that deal 1d8+1.5 times their strength modifier. This replaces their bite and claws attack.
